Hello everyone, and happy Sunday! I don’t know about you, but I will admit that it did feel rather weird not having a newsletter go out last week, but I’m hoping that you all found something suitable to fill the void with. First things first, I’m very excited to say that The Rhubarb Society keyrings are now officially available to purchase! (at the time of proofreading this on Saturday evening, there are only 12 left in stock, so I’m hoping there are still some by the time this newsletter goes out). They are the real-life version of the illustration you all know and love, made from enamel with all the details in raised gold. As paid subscribers, you should have already received an early access link; however, if you didn’t, please let me know so I can look into this for future drops. This week has been unbelievably busy and varied, with everything from partying with Hailey and Justin Bieber to witnessing Magic Mike live in the flesh and learning how to make pasta from scratch. Amongst the chaos, Team Rhubarb has been preparing for our two-week road trip across Europe, equipped with Rhubarb’s French passport. As with any trip, Henry draws the plans, lays the foundations and builds the bare bones before I fill the house with expensive furniture and art. In essence, I’m there to fill our days with fun (and if anybody has any must-see and do things around the South of France, please let us know). So, what have I been doing in preparation? Well…I’m glad you asked. Before we kick off, though, how about we start today’s issue with a little road trip playlist?
THE BIG EUROPEAN ROAD TRIP
I need little to no excuse to shop. Knowing that we will be spending lazy beachy days, and warm, summer evenings around the SoF and Italy means that I am just bursting with sartorial inspiration (it feels like forever since I’ve felt properly inspired, fashion-wise, so I’m thrilled). Inspiration is always a 360 thing for me. Yes, I can look at pretty pictures on Pinterest, but what music am I listening to? What films am I watching? Which perfumes scream ‘One Lillet Spritz for breakfast, please’? What products tell my body it’s time to choose between a sunburn and a tan?
Longchamp Le Pliage Filet in Soft Pink £95 - I saw this when I was lost in the underbelly of Harrods, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It is the complete opposite of my usual taste, but when I saw how Longchamp had lined the bag with a silk scarf, I couldn’t stop thinking about how perfect it would look on the beaches in the South of France or for afternoon Aperol in Italy.
OUAI Scalp and Body Scrub £36 - The scent for this scrub is called St Barth’s, which is actually just perfect. I can’t say I’d want to use this on my scalp (I’m strictly Christophe Robin for that) but for my body? Divine. It smells like an expensive holiday, and it buffs without leaving skin feeling dry.
TanLuxe Illuminating Body Oil £29 - An illuminating body oil to extend and enhance your tan should have been something I had in my arsenal years ago. Fortunately, this is a better late than never situation because this hydrates and gives the most beautiful golden glow.
Film - Priceless (Hors de Prix) - This film is the epitome of South of France glamour. Audrey Tatou plays a con artist, charming her way into a lifestyle of luxury and extravagance with a wardrobe to die for.
